✈️ By Flight (Air)
Kumbakonam does not have its own airport. The best way to fly in is via nearby cities:

- Onward Journey: From Trichy airport, you can hire a private taxi (approx. 2-hour drive) or take a bus from the Trichy Central Bus Stand.
- Alternative: Chennai International Airport (MAA) is about 280 km away. It offers more international connections, followed by a 6-hour drive or train journey.
🚆 By Train (Rail)
This is the most popular and comfortable way to reach the town. The Kumbakonam Railway Station (KMU) is well-connected to major South Indian hubs.
- From Chennai: Daily express trains like the Chozhan SF Express, Uzhavan Express, and Tiruchendur Express run frequently (Travel time: 5–6 hours).
- From Other Cities: Direct trains are available from Bangalore (Mysore Express), Coimbatore (Jan Shatabdi), Madurai, and Tiruchirappalli.
- Pro Tip: Book your tickets well in advance, especially during the festival seasons or the Tamil month of Masi.
🚌 By Bus (Road)
Kumbakonam is a major junction for the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) and private operators.

- Private Volvos: Numerous private sleeper and semi-sleeper buses operate overnight from Bangalore and Chennai.
